Nagoya Obi

Por fín he finalizado la confección de mi primer nagoya obi. El trabajo fue laborioso pero creo que mereció la pena. Este es el resultado:

At last I finished making my first nagoya obi. The work was laborious but I think it was worth it. This is the result:

Había comprado la tela hace tiempo y no me decía a hacerlo. La tenía criando polvo en el armario. Pero encontré un post en inmortal geisha con buenas instrucciones para hacerlo y no me pude resistir. Este primero está totalmente confeccionado a mano. Todas y cada una de la puntadas, cada pespunte es manual. En el próximo quizá me modernice y lo haga a máquina.

He had bought the fabric for some time and told me not to do so. The was gathering dust in the closet. But I found a post on immortal geisha with good instructions for doing so and I could not resist. This first one is completely handcrafted. Each and every one of the stitches is manual. In the next maybe I modernize myself and I'll do it with the machine.

Hanhaba Obi

Después de mi baja casi forzosa por fin os presento mi hanhaba obi

Este obi está realizado con la misma técnica con la que realicé el kaku obi para hombre, el shibori de cuerda. El hanhaba obi es el menos formal de todos los obi. Se usa con el komon, el kimono de diario, y con yukata. Tiene unos 15 cm de ancho y unos 333 de largo y os permitirá hacer casi cualquier nudo que queráis. This obi is made with the same technique that I made the kaku obi for men, the string shibori. The hanhaba obi is the least formal of all the obi. Used with the Komon, the kimono dayly, and yukata. It is about 15 cm wide and about 333 long and will allow you to do almost any knot you want. Hoy os quiero enseñar una pieza que conseguí hace unos días en ebay:

Se trata de los papeles originales para el estampado y bordado de la tela de un kimono. Estos papeles, según decía el vendedor, se están convirtiendo en algo raro más que nada por la extensión de la impresión vía computadora. Este papel que veis a la izquierda consta de 4 hojas en la que los motivos florales se enmarcan en una especie de triángulos (o abanicos) y en algunas de la hojas de papel aún se pueden ver correcciones de última hora del diseño. El papel de abajo consta de 14 hojas (probablemente para estampar la tela para un humongi). Me gustaría encontrar algún kimono realizado con estos dibujos. Sería curioso.

Today I want to show a piece that I got on ebay a few days ago:

These are the original papers for printing and embroidery of the fabric of a kimono. These papers, according to the seller, are becoming a rarity more than anything for the extension of the print via computer. This role that you see on the left consists of four sheets in which the floral motifs are framed in a kind of triangles (or fans) and some of the sheets of paper can still see last-minute editing of the design. The bottom part consists of 14 sheets (presumably to affix the fabric to a humongi). I would like to find a kimono made with these drawings. It would be funny.

Accidente laboral - occupational accident

Hoy tenía pensado presentaros mi última creación: Un precioso hanhaba obi realizado con la misma técnica de teñido que el kaku obi de caballero. Desgraciadamente a la cuarta vez que me clavé la parte trasera de la aguja cosiendo el obi mi dedo medio de la mano derecha dijo basta así que no he podido terminarlo. En cuanto me recupere os pongo las fotos.

Today I've planned to present my latest creation: A beautiful hanhaba obi made with the same technique of dyeing as my kaku obi for gentleman. Unfortunately for the fourth time I stuck the back of the  needle sewing the obi, my middle finger from my right hand just said stop and I could not finish it. When I recovered I put the photos of the obi.

Kaku obi

Solo tenía un heko obi en mi colección. Así que me he puesto las pilas y me he hecho uno nuevo.

Este obi es de lienzo moreno, teñido con una subtécnica del shibori japonés llamada shibori de cuerda. Básicamente se trata de enrollar alrededor de una cuerda la tela haciéndole pliegues para conseguir la texturas y dibujos que véis. El teñido es un procedimiento bastante arduo por el tiempo y por la cantidad de pliegues que hay que hacer pero tengo que reconocer que el resultado me gusta mucho.

Este obi pertenece a mi colección privada pero siempre os puedo hacer uno. Ya sabéis que para cualquier encargo, estoy listo.

Stock de Telas

Hoy os quiero mostrar el stock de telas que tengo en casa por si os apetece haceros algún kimono. This is my fabric stock in case you want to order a kimono. I have it at home so if you puchase I'll star the confection inmediatly

Esta tela es un algodón con los dibujos en índigo y el fondo blanco. Es una tela muy fresca, ideal para confeccionar un yukata de hombre.

La siguiente tela es un paño de lana azul marino. Es una tela muy abrigada que sirve tanto para hacer un kimono como un haori (chaqueta para el kimono).

The following material is a dark blue woolen cloth. It is a very warm fabric that serves both to make a kimono or a haori  (kimono jacket).

Después tenemos esta preciosa muselina de lana estampada con motivos costeros. Es muy adecuada para hacer juban. Juban es el kimono interior. El cuello que se observa debajo del kimono muchas veces es el del juban.

Then we have this beautiful chiffon printed wool coastal motif. Best suited for juban. Juban kimono is the interior. The neck is observed many times under the kimono is the juban

Esta otra tela es un seda ro (o seda calada) con motivos de olas tejidos. Esta seda está muy demandada por el verano. Este rollo en concreto se usa para hacer un obi femenino.

The other fabric is a silk ro (or silk set) wave motif fabrics. This silk is in high demand in the summer. This roll is used specifically for a female obi.

Por último tengo esta tela, la única no japonesa, que es un paño sintético que me gustó por los cuadros. Me parece una tela muy divertida para hacer un obi o un kimono para niños. Es bastane abrigada así que podrán pasar un buen septiembre dentro de sus kimonos.
Finally I have this material, the only non-Japanese, which is a synthetic cloth that I liked for  the motif. I think a lot of fun fabric to make an obi or kimono for children. It is quite warm so they can spend a good September in their kimonos.
